“My practice uses a self-depreciative sense of humour to address contemporary society’s inherent desire to be ‘the best’ and explores what it means to be a ‘winner’ and by association, what it means to be a ‘loser’. The subject matter – anonymous portraits, motivational slogans and matter-of-fact statements – are both personal as well as relative to others by dealing with issues of success and failure. – Tom Polo.”
