“Louie Joyce is an Illustrator and Graphic Designer based in Kings Cross, Sydney. His love for comics, both the strong graphic imagery and narrative, is something he tries to distill into single images – moments that exist within larger events, stories or lives. Like the characters that drift around Kings Cross, Louie’s figures – partly obscured, smudged, painted over or caught in movement, exist in both shadow and light. By keeping the subject and the viewer partially in the dark, a subtext and implied narrative is created, leaving room for interaction and interpretation. While these same characters may end up in Louie’s next comic book zine, here for a brief moment, they are given a chance to emerge from obscurity and tell their own stories.” – Louie Joyce.
