New Work Friday #120

New Work Sep 07, 2012 No Comments

“This work is Andrew Seward’s tribute to American artist Jess Collins (1923-2004) who at one time was associated with 1960’s Pop Art but whose reputation rests on a body of work that is distinctively independent and highly idiosyncratic. As well as painting and drawing, Collins made many collage works, some of which included or were composed entirely of jigsaw puzzles. Collins’ The Way to Rose Mountain (1974) was an important influence for the creation of Seward’s current jigsaw work.”
