unMagazine, our erstwhile Melbourne cousins, have issued a call out for applications for the position of magazine and website editor for volume 7 issues 1 and 2. Please state your essentials and desirables.

un Magazine volume 7 issue 1 and 2

Deadline: Monday 1st October 2012

un Projects is currently seeking expressions of interest for an Editor of volume 7 issue 1 and Issue 2 of un Magazine to be published in 2013. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the development and production of contemporary arts publishing.

This is a 12 month role at an equivalent of (0.2) and comprises:

The Editor will direct the concept and commissioning of works

The Editor will work in close relationship with un Projects in planning and generating content for the magazine as well as some unique content for the un Projects’ website (launching late 2012)

The Editor is responsible for the administration of content, copy editing, images and permissions and all aspects of production of content, and liaison with un Magazine’s designer

The Editor is accountable to un Projects for the magazine budget and delivery of contents against strict timelines

The Editor will work closely with and mentor the Sub-Editor who assists with all aspects of the magazine

Total remuneration is a $3,000 editor’s fee per issue.

Please note that funding for issue 1 is confirmed, however issue 2 is still pending funding.

un Magazine is a free, independent art publication produced bi­annually by un Projects Inc. It plays an essential role in supporting and generating creative practice and critical dialogue in the Australian art community by commissioning writing on the independent arts sector and artworks for publication. This includes text­based artworks, features on current issues in contemporary art, essays, reviews, page artworks, creative writing, and other commentary on Australian contemporary art.
