“I have been dismembering toy dolls and using them to reference the abject, depicting female bodies which refuse to be contained. I am interested in creating work which transgresses order and appropriate boundaries, resisting femininity that is constrained, domestic and maternal.Dolls have a long history of being used to inculcate girls with certain values, so they are an appropriate motif to use to explore these issues. You can see more of my work at the Brand X Campbell st Studio, where I am currently completing a residency, as well as on my website: www.yang-enhume.com” – Yang-Eng Hume
