Last year there was talk that Ashley Crawford’s Tension Magazine was being relaunched under the auspices of Morry Schwartz, publisher and husband to gallerist Anna Schwartz. Not true. According to our sources the deal was for a one off publication but fell apart when there was a disagreement over how many times a year the magazine would come out – Crawford punting for four times a year, Schwartz wanting a one-off-see-how-she-goes approach.
Instead, we are pleased to inform you, Schwartz has gone off in a different direction launching The Monthly a magazine published by Black Inc. Books and which has been described to us as “like The New Yorker” (which we assume means there won’t be any typos and they’ll use an umlaut when they spell coöperate).
The Monthly has a special ‘get the first issue free with a binder’ offer at their site, but apparently no articles on dinosaurs. Shame!
