“Standing Still” is an exhibition of paintings based on political unrest over a period of 10 years. Under the guise of still life paintings comprised of playful, nostalgic and seductive objects, my practice works subversively with serious and insidious ideas. The works are based on themes of politics, loss, violence, deceit, power plays and the subsequent impact on the vulnerable – Monika Behrens
