“Politics, of course, is catnip to the curatorial team at the MCA. Unless the shows have a high sociopolitical content, they are out of their comfort zone. Consider the program over the past two years: it has been stuffed full of political, proselytising shows: Destiny Deacon, Rosemary Laing, Interesting Times, Mona Hatoum, Juan Davila, the 2006 Biennale, the 2005 Primavera, Mike Parr and Keinholz. Some of these shows have been excellent. But when one comes hard upon the other, you may easily end up feeling groggy, bullied and disenchanted.”
