“Adam Lee is a Melbourne based artist whose work draws from a wide range of sources, including historical photography, Biblical narratives, natural history and contemporary music, literature and film to investigate aspects of the human condition in relation to ideas of the spiritual and the natural world. For Signs, for Seasons and for Days and for Years is an exhibition of new paintings and drawings, which explore ideas taken from the Garden of Eden narrative from the Old Testament book of Genesis in which the first man and woman become aware of their imperfect state and make for themselves garments constructed of leaves in order to cover their nakedness and hide. The works touch on man’s relationship with the natural world and the possible connections between this and the idea of an unseen spiritual world. Lee is currently a part of the Churchie Emerging Artist Award at Griffith University in Brisbane and has also been invited to participate in this year’s RBS Emerging Artist Award in Sydney.”
