Exploring the performance territory between dance, the everyday and dramatic body.

Please gather at Io Myers Studio near Gate 2, High Street Kensington, at 6pm for a glass of champagne and to view Sue Healey’s and Isabel Rocamora’s work. At approximately 6:45pm we will make our way to the Australian School of Business (ASB) West Foyer where Samuel James’ and Kate Murphy’s work is installed. At 7.15pm we will move up to the ASB Business Lounge on the sixth floor for a presentation of Sean O’Brien’s Melangkoli ~ Sen Siao with the score performed live by the composers, Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey.

Gesture :: Performance | Film | Dance is a screen exhibition running across various sites on UNSW’s Kensington Campus and the National Institute of Dramatic Art. The program features the work of four Australian and one Spanish/UK video artist, and is curated by Dr. Erin Brannigan (UNSW), Janine Dijkmeijer (The Netherlands) and Pascale Moyse (UK).

A walking tour connects the main sites of the exhibition; Io Myers Studio, Robert Webster Building and the Australian School of Business West Foyer.

Thirty other working screens across campus will be interrupted by Kate Murphy’s Assembly.

Also associated with the exhibition is a one-day research workshop on June 16, Thinking Gesture, bringing together academics with the artists involved in the exhibition.
