New Work Friday #168

Joe Wilson

Joe Wilson‘s installation DOMAIN is a simple painting in a domestic setting. His creative achievement could be likened more appropriately with tradespersons outside the artistic field often so necessary to it; house painters, carpenters, or framers. Wilson’s painting Partial View (Threshold), above a mantel piece, is as underwhelming as it is unworried. Wilson’s work aspires quite unsuccessfully to be commercial; with anti-establishment criticisms that are outdated or simply to opaque. His work tends to become what it opposes.
