“Rough Diamonds is the most recent of Anthony Sawrey’s continuing series of site specific environment paintings. In this case, an opportunity arose to create a work in the South Australian desert on the Oonadatta track between Marree and Lake Eyre and have it documented from a hot air balloon. Each piece created is completely temporal, subject to the weathering effects of rain and wind and are a joy to create because they are not constrained by the boundaries of an enclosed gallery space. Anthony used an non toxic organic grass paint for the coloring and applied it with a industrial spray pump, all of which was lugged thousands of kilometers for the opportunity to create a never to be repeated work.” – Anthony Sawrey
