“I am Ashleigh Garwood, a Sydney based artist that is currently undertaking a residency with Brand X at Chippendale. I work with silver gelatin photographs and add to the images with very subtle layers of black ink and white acrylic. I like the idea of being able to elongate the ‘moment in time’ adding in other elements that were not present, elements that represent the part of the image that cannot be captured. By doing this I am rejecting photography as a medium that is about freezing one moment. Instead I am using it as a starting off point, imbuing it with my own narrative” – Ashleigh Garwood.
